The popular manga series ‘Call of the Night’ by Kotoyama is set to receive a second season of its television anime adaptation. This exciting news was announced at the Fuji TV Anime Lineup Press Conference 2024. Along with the announcement, a teaser visual and video were revealed, building anticipation for the upcoming season. The second season of ‘Call of the Night’ will be broadcasted on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block, as well as other channels.

The first season of the anime premiered in July 2022 and received positive reception from fans. English-speaking viewers were able to enjoy the series through HIDIVE, which streamed the episodes with English subtitles. Additionally, HIDIVE released an English dub of the anime in September 2022.

The first season of ‘Call of the Night’ was directed by Tomoyuki Itamura, known for his work on the Monogatari series. The animation studio LIDEN FILMS brought the story to life, with Tetsuya Miyanishi serving as the chief director. The scripts were written by Michiko Yokote, who has worked on popular anime such as Bleach, Shirobako, Prison School, and Cowboy Bebop. The character designs were handled by Haruka Sagawa, adding a unique visual style to the series.

Manga Series and Fanbase

The manga series ‘Call of the Night’ has also gained a dedicated following. Viz Media has licensed the manga and has been releasing English translations of the volumes. The 15th volume is set to be released on March 12. The story follows Nanakusa, a vampire, and Ko, a human who desires to become one. Their relationship takes an interesting turn when Nazuna, another vampire, enters the picture. The series explores their late-night adventures, conversations, and the challenges they face.

Kotoyama, the creator of ‘Call of the Night,’ is known for their previous work on ‘Dagashi Kashi.’ The manga first debuted in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in August 2019. Since then, it has garnered a loyal fanbase and will soon reach its 20th compiled volume on March 18.
