During a press conference, Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Hong Nam expressed his enthusiasm for the project. He highlighted the popularity of both soccer and manga among Vietnamese children, emphasizing that this collaboration would serve as a bridge to deepen the relationship between Vietnam and Japan. Ambassador Nam also noted that many Vietnamese children have yet to explore their own country’s landmarks, making this manga an excellent opportunity to introduce them to their cultural heritage.

In a show of support, Ambassador Nam and KADOKAWA CPO Masayuki Aoyagi announced that upon completion of the manga, 1000 copies would be donated to the Vietnamese Embassy for distribution to children in Vietnam. This gesture reflects the shared commitment to promoting cultural exchange and fostering a love for manga among Vietnamese youth.

Furthermore, KADOKAWA is actively collaborating with the Hanoi University of Industrial Arts and Kim Dong Publishing Company to promote “Tatesuku,” a vertically scrolling manga in color, in Japan. This effort not only expands the reach of Vietnamese manga but also showcases the talent and creativity of Vietnamese artists.

Vietnam’s commitment to protecting intellectual property rights is also evident through its participation in the Japan-based anti-piracy group, CODA (Content Overseas Distribution Association). This collaboration demonstrates Vietnam’s dedication to combatting copyright infringements and ensuring the integrity of the manga industry.

The introduction of the Vietnamese shonen manga to Japan is a significant milestone for both countries. It not only provides Vietnamese artists with a platform to showcase their work internationally but also fosters cultural understanding and strengthens the bond between Vietnam and Japan. With the donation of 1000 copies to Vietnamese children, this manga will undoubtedly bring joy and inspiration to young readers, further solidifying the impact of this collaboration.
