Renowned manga artist Takako Shimura is set to release a new series, A Story of the Children of That House, following the lives of childhood friends as they navigate marriage, work, and independence. Takako Shimura, the renowned manga artist known for works like Wandering Son and Sweet Blue Flowers, is set to launch a new series titled “A Story of the Children of That House” in the upcoming issue of Weekly Big Comic Spirits.

The manga, which will begin serialization on May 27, follows the lives of childhood friends Ema, Kōichi, and Sachiko, who were raised in the same religious household.

Now 28 years old, the trio finds themselves at a crossroads as they navigate the challenges of marriage, work, and independence.

Multiple New Projects from Takako Shimura

This announcement comes as Shimura reveals her fourth new series in recent times.

Last month, she announced that the previously published one-shot manga “Living Alone Together” would be getting a regular series.

The first chapter of this series was released in the spring issue of Bunshun Woman magazine on March 21.

Additionally, Shimura has also announced the spinoff manga “What’s Next After First Love,” which will begin serialization in Kodansha’s Kiss magazine on April 25.

Furthermore, she will be launching a new manga titled “Only Talk” in the 70th issue of OnBLUE boys-love magazine, also on April 25.

Acclaimed Works and Recognition

Takako Shimura’s previous works have garnered significant acclaim, with both Wandering Son and Sweet Blue Flowers receiving anime adaptations.

She has also contributed original character designs for anime series such as Aldnoah.Zero, Battery the Animation, and Overtake!.

Her manga series Wandering Son is being released in North America by Fantagraphics Books, while Sweet Blue Flowers is being published by Viz Media.

Even Though We’re Adults, another one of Shimura’s works, is being released digitally and in print by Seven Seas.
