One Piece Manga Announces One-Month Break Before Final Arc

The One Piece manga will be taking a one-month break before its highly anticipated final arc, allowing the creator to reorganize and prepare for the series’ conclusion. The break is also in preparation for the 25th anniversary of One Piece’s serialization and the release of the upcoming anime film, ONE PIECE FILM RED.

One Piece Manga Takes a One-Month Break Before Final Arc

The official Twitter account for the One Piece manga made an exciting announcement on June 7, 2022. The series will be taking a one-month break, spanning four issues, starting from the 30th issue in Weekly Shonen Jump, set to be released on June 27. However, fans need not worry, as the manga will resume and kickstart its highly anticipated final arc in the 34th issue, hitting shelves on July 25.

Eiichiro Oda, the brilliant mind behind One Piece, shared a handwritten comment explaining the reasons behind this extended break. In his message, Oda expressed his desire to take this time to steady his breathing and reorganize the last arc to bring it to a satisfying conclusion. Additionally, Oda revealed that the one-month hiatus is essential for preparing for the 25th anniversary of One Piece’s serialization and the release of the upcoming anime feature film, ONE PIECE FILM RED. Furthermore, he expressed his eagerness to travel to Africa to supervise Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the beloved manga series.

Exciting Plans in Store for One Piece Fans

In addition to the manga break, the One Piece production team has exciting plans in store. They will be hosting a live-streaming program on the official One Piece YouTube channel on June 8, at 19:00 (JST) / 03:00 (PT). During the stream, important information about ONE PIECE FILM RED will be unveiled, including the voice cast for Gordon and Uta, the main trailer, theme song details, the Uta Project, a poster visual drawn by Oda, and an announcement section.

One Piece, a renowned Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda, has been captivating fans since its serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in July 1997. With over 102 tankōbon volumes compiled as of April 2022, it held the title of the best-selling manga for eleven consecutive years, from 2008 to 2018. Notably, One Piece is the only manga to consistently achieve initial print volumes above 3 million for over a decade and sell more than 1 million copies in all of its 100 published tankōbon volumes.
